Our story unfolds during a cold California November with a newly adopted dog from the streets, emaciated and anxious. Gary was scraggly and a third of what he is today. He was squirrelly and for good reason. He had practically zero fat to keep him warm. As a result, Vianka, already an avid seamstress, decided to fashion dog clothing out of an old thermal shirt. It was the beginning of Gary's ever-growing closet filled with love and handmade clothes fitted just for him.

Four years later, Gary (who may be a cairn terrier) is now 14 years old, happy, and healthy. He is rightfully spoiled, but still the most grateful dog. He has become the face of Garry Lemongrass with his own equally large pile of laundry!

At its launch in autumn 2025, Vianka began selling her signature shirts and affordable bandanas, branched into denim jackets, and welcomed her sisters' creations (artwork, button badges, and charms) to sit beside hers. We officially set up Garry Lemongrass’s first booth at a small farmer’s market in Long Beach. Since then, we have participated in a number of pop-ups like Atlantic First Fridays at Kubo.
